Bali is probably one of the best destinations to go to when you’re looking for serenity, beauty and comfort in one place. Almost everyone would agree that Bali is like heaven on earth and almost everyone would admit to having the desire to visit this wondrous place.
But what tourists would want to know is when is the best time to travel to Bali? With Bali located a little below the equator, the climate here is tropical with an average temperature of 31 degrees centigrade. Bali, like most tropical climates, experience only two seasons: the wet and dry seasons. From October to March visitors will experience frequent rain showers, and from April to September tourists can wear their bikinis for the dry season. Even though it frequently rains between the months of October to March, showers usually come at night and they’re often short. So even if you visit Bali during the wet season there will be enough sunshine for you to enjoy your whole stay.
But the best time to travel to Bali is during the dry season. From April to September, you’re sure to bask under the sun’s rays with nary a cloud in the sky to keep you from getting a nice even tan. In these months, Bali is perfect for tourists due to the low humidity, sunny climate, minimal rain showers and cool evenings.
Holidays not to miss in Bali
Also, during this time Bali holds many festivals or holidays which you could be a part of. On July 30 Indonesians celebrate the Isra Miraj, which is a Muslim tradition commemorating Muhammad’s Night Journey. Tourists can also be a part of Indonesia’s Independence Day, which is held on August 17.
But if you happen to visit Bali between the months of October to March, don’t fret because there are still so many holidays that you could encounter while you’re there. You could experience how Muslims celebrate the end of Ramadan, also referred to as Eid al-Fitr, if you’re in Bali from October 1 to 2. Sometimes they also celebrate Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice on December 8. And if you happen to be at Bali on December 25 you won’t miss celebrating Christmas since they also observe this holiday.
Other seasonal highlights
Diversity is probably one of the best terms to describe Bali when it comes to tradition and religious festivities. In here, locals adhere to a special version of Hinduism, but they also observe Christian and Islamic holidays as well as national holidays.
One Hindu festival, which the Balinese celebrate religiously is the Galungan. Galungan lasts for ten days, in which locals celebrate the victory of good over evil by giving thanks to the gods. And on its final day, which is called Kuningan, locals dress up in traditional Balinese costumes and carry on their heads local fruits, flowers and wood as offerings to the temples. It is a sight to behold and one you should never miss.
